What is "First Night Fullerton"?
It is Fullerton's annual New Year's Eve celebration in which citizens welcome the new year by enjoying a great selection of music, art, games, activities, entertainment, fireworks and much more. Its focus on family fun and arts appreciation, and its alcohol-free environment have made this one of the most unique events in southern california, and has attracted more than 10,000 people from the vicinity.
This year, it will be held on Sunday December 31th, 2006 (to 2007) Downtown Fullerton @ Harbor and Wilshire.
For information call the city staff at 714.738.6545.
Festivities take place from 7:00 pm to midnight. Admission is free except for rides and food.
This Year: Hot air balloon rides, live music by Superlark, James Intveld, Street Beat & Kulayd. Kids rides and Karaoke and more!
Tour the Fullerton Museum (See the exhibit on Orange County's influence on Rock & Roll)! Spectacular Fireworks show at Midnight.
Fullerton has been hosting First Night since 1990, in fact we are the first on the west coast to have embraced this form of festivity. "First Night" began in Boston in 1976 as a cap to the nation's bicentennial. "The goal is to broaden public appreciation of the visual and performing arts while offering a safe, family-oriented alternative to traditional parties which focus on drinking"*.
