FULLERTON, CA: After months of hiding the coyote’s identity, the Fullerton Flyers finally showed off their pride and joy. Coal Train, a friendly, upward standing coyote, made his debut appearance on Saturday, May 7th, 2005 at the Flyers’ Select-A-Seat Day at Goodwin Field. Coal Train was escorted by two Fullerton motorcycle police officers, and Miss Fullerton Runner-up, Rebecca Pulido.

Coal Train will be present at all Orange County Flyers’ home games this season and is also looking to get involved with his community.

Coal Train is available to visit schools, hospitals, after-school programs, businesses, and libraries.

About the Golden Baseball League

The Golden Baseball League, Presented by Safeway, is an independent professional baseball league operating under a single-entity ownership model, with the League owning all the individual teams. The GBL charter cities include: Chico, CA; Fullerton, CA; Long Beach, CA; Mesa, AZ; San Diego, CA; Surprise, AZ; Yuma, AZ; and one traveling team. The first season consisted of 90 games per team and begin in late May 2005. This year it will begin in early June, and end in early September 2006. Each team will have a 24 player roster. The Golden Baseball League office is headquartered in Pleasanton, CA.

Players are recruited from throughout the United States, including former major leaguers working their way back up through the minors, some of college baseball’s finest players who missed being drafted, and recent cuts from major league baseball organizations spring training roster trimming. The Golden Baseball League plans on pursuing additional international player exchange agreements with other foreign leagues looking to develop their talent or acquire players.
